Shipwreckbay

schiffwrackkleinIn the early '80s, a smuggling boat carrying a large load of illegal cigarettes sank off the north-west of Zakynthos. After some time, the sunken ship washed up in a beach of Zakynthos, which was isolated and detached from the inland.

Since then, the Wreck Beach has become the most photographed and popular beach in Greece and every year thousands of visitors travel there to observe the ship in the middle of the beach and swim in the clear blue waters.

To visit the famous beach, you can either join one of the many sea tours organized in the surrounding areas having the Shipwreck as their destination, or enjoying one of the everyday, island day tours by boat, which stop there for swimming.
